ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - ASSISI PLACE (MHA)

MHA's new project in Leeds has been established to foster links with the multicultural society around it. It has been named Assisi Place, after the Italian town that has hosted two major interfaith gatherings – one on ecology in 1986, and another on world peace in 2002.

Set across three storeys, the 45 apartments offer bright, airy and spacious living places specially designed for the needs of older people, with a range of colour schemes and assistive technology. Although living independently in their own apartments, residents will have the reassurance of 24-hour care on site and care packages to suit their individual needs.

The Housing with Care Manager for Assisi Place, enthused, “Assisi Place is a great asset to the community and those who live here. It is a beautiful new building. I’m hoping it will be a place where community members will come for lunches or coffee and bring harmony, helping residents to reintegrate with their peers in the area.”

The development originated through a partnership with Leeds City Council and the vision of Sister Agatha Leach CJ (Congregation of Jesus), of the Bar Convent in York, stating: “What a wonderful vision if it can bring true peace and friendship at the grassroots of at least one place in our world and why not in this very city in the heart of Leeds.”

At Assisi Place, we now provide 24-hour staffing on site.  We deliver around the clock support and care tailored to individual needs.
