ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - ALEXANDRA HOUSE - HARWICH (MHA)

On 19 May 1905, King Edward VII visited Dovercourt. The main purpose of the visit was to inspect the local militia. In the evening before returning to London, the King had dinner with his officers in the Alexandra Hotel, now Alexandra House. In recognition of the 100th anniversary of this event, on 19 May 2005, Alexandra House had a small exhibition in the home to recall the King's visit, and they replicated items from the menu served to the King for the resident’s lunch. This is just one example of the events at the Home. Amongst the best located care homes in Essex.

Alexandra House is set in delightful grounds on Marine Parade to the east of the town centre. The location offers panoramic views of the sea front and a relaxed pace of life.

In 2011, MHA has built a brand new care home in the grounds to replace the original home. This is a state of the art three storey home with panoramic views of the seafront, offering 47 places for residential and dementia care with a range of facilities including landscaped gardens, en suite shower rooms, conservatory, balcony, air conditioned communal areas and family rooms. The home continues to benefit from its own Chaplain, Reflexologist, Music Therapist and dedicated Activities Co-ordinator.
