ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - ABBEY HOUSE NURSING HOME
Abbey House Nursing Home is a privately owned care home. It is registered to accommodate up to 48 people. Nine beds are currently contracted by Southern Health NHS Trust for rehabilitation.
The home is set in beautiful grounds adjacent to Netley Abbey, an English Heritage site of national importance and beauty. Southampton water is a very short distance away. Within easy walking distance is Netley Victoria Country Park. On this site was the largest military hospital in Europe. It was very close to the heart of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Queen Victoria visited the hospital on many occassions on her way to Osborne House. Only the chapel remains, and is well worth a visit. There is also a cafe in the grounds. Both are accessible to wheelchair users.
Originally built in circa 1868 as a Country home, Abbey House provides a secure, relaxed and homely enviroment. It benefits from three lounges, an additional sun lounge and dining room. Bedrooms are set over three floors, accessible by lifts.
The owners and management have many years experience of providing care to vulnerable older adults in a clean, comfortable and safe enviroment. Our team of friendly staff enjoy their role in providing personal care, promoting privacy, dignity, choice and independence. They work alongside qualified nursing staff to meet assessed individual needs.
