ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - 52 CARVILLE ROAD
52 Carville Road, is a specialist service for people with an acquired brain injury, located in Wallsend, Newcastle upon Tyne. The service is purpose built and fully accessible throughout. It offers comfortable and spacious accommodation including therapy rooms, 12 en-suite bedrooms and two transitional living flats.
We are committed to understanding each individual's goals and aspirations, focusing on meaningful outcomes which enhance quality of life and independence. We support individuals to relearn skills in a community based environment. As a provider we have a good track record of supporting people to move onto their own tenancies or back home where appropriate.
We support people to develop cognitive, social, emotional and physical skills. Cognitive support plans and risk management strategies are developed to support individuals in gaining greater insight and into their injury and its effects, enabling people to regain ownership of their lives and increase their confidence.
Therapists and support staff work with each person as a team to establish strengths, aspirations and goals and issues which needi to be addressed through therapy and rehabilitation.Regular therapy reviews allow collaboration between the individual’s multidisciplinary team. This forum encourages creative and responsive strategies to the often varied and complex issues associated with brain injury. Strategies are implemented into daily life via scaled goals, set to record progress on specific areas. These provide information for current skill level and further goal setting.
Individuals are assisted to maintain and develop personal interests. Support is available to facilitate a range of social, occupational and leisure activities. We aim to encourage individuals to maintain and develop relationships, enjoying time with the important people in their lives.
