ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - 1 WEST DRIVE
At 1 West Drive we provide care and support for eight individuals with a learning disability, challenging behaviour, autistic spectrum disorders and associated disabilities.
The service is in Arlesey, a small village ten miles from Hitchin. We encourage service users to make the most of local facilities. Activities currently enjoyed by our service users include horse riding, gym sessions and hydrotherapy.
There are also educational opportunities; North Hertfordshire College provides a number of day courses for adults with learning disabilities.
We also offer a varied programme of activities within the service. There is an activity room where residents can take part in music, art and aromatherapy sessions, a computer room with internet access and a quiet room with soft lighting where service users can sit and listen to music and relax.
The kitchen has been carefully designed to allow all individuals to take part in preparing meals.
1 West Drive has a number of communal rooms, giving service users the option to spend time with others or alone as they wish. There is also a well-maintained garden with a large patio area and garden furniture. It is the ideal place to sit and enjoy the views over the surrounding countryside.
The service has eight bedrooms with en-suite facilities and two bungalows for more independent living.
